It’s that time of year again
Christmas is almost upon us.🎄
Steve and I would like to take a moment to wish all our customers a very Merry Christmas and to thank you all for your valued custom and support throughout the year. xx
Steve and I have recently had a little splurge to make your Puggeroomie experience with us fabulous!
We are currently making lots of new and exciting improvements/changes behind the scenes. At this stage I can't say too much but I can mention....
We have a new members ONLY area on our website.
Our new members area is for all our booked customers for 2020. Each 2020 customer will be given a individual password to access a private area to view how their dog(s) have spent their time at Puggeroomie.
This area will contain detailed daily updates and photographs to storyboard your dog(s) time shared whilst under our care.
Our facebook business page will be used ONLY to advertise Puggeroomie Limited in the ways a business card does on handing it to a member of the public.
For more detailed information contact Joe Lee firstname.lastname@example.org
Nowadays many individuals run dog businesses from their home addresses. All of these businesses are run differently and there will be lots of variations out there for you to choose from.
At Puggeroomie Steve and I chose to put everything into place not only to make you feel at ease on being absent from your beloved companion but we wanted to also tick all the boxes that is set and asked of us required by law.
We are licensed through Gosport Borough Council. BOES/165/1.
Did you know to board dogs it is a legal requirement and you need to own a animal boarding licence to do so. When looking for a childminder, you would expect a childminder to be experienced, trustworthy, licensed and inspected. Puggeroomie are experienced, trustworthy, licensed and inspected to care for dogs too.
My thoughts, be it babies or fur babies it's the same legal requirement!😂
At Puggeroomie we are also fully insured. We have a great insurance cover in place that covers lots of different areas and sinareos that can arise. We have Public Liability Insurance plus more. You can see the policy if you would like too! just ask.
All dogs that board with Puggeroomie are up to date on all vaccinations. We check pet health cards for the safety of all others in our care.
You are invited to see where your dog will be sleeping and sharing their time. You also have opportunities to meet myself and Steve. You can ask as many questions as you feel you need too.
A biggy I go by myself is check reviews. We have a reviews tab on our Facebook page from all our lovely customers. We run a trusted service.
Always check the business is validated too. Puggeroomie are registered with companies house. Puggeroomie Limited. Our company house number is 11203461.
Experience. Ask to see certificates, ask a few 'tricky' questions test the knowledge of who will be looking after your dog(s) in your absence.
From a customer point of view, you can either pay a price for professional licenced boarding or you can hand over a bottle of wine to a non professional and be at higher risk and quite possibly end up paying the price for your pet.
Now, that has given you something to think about, hasn't it!
Worth noting, when dogs are in our care we do not drink Alcohol. Just in case we have an emergency arise. Like I said previously, be it babies or fur babies same rules apply!
Those of you that choose to board at Puggeroomie will always have the best service and cover needed in the unlikely event something may go wrong. In these circumstances we follow and adhere to the rules and regulations in our licence in the welfare of all animals.
Here are a few pointers Puggeroomie have in place.
ANIMAL BOARDING ESTABLISHMENT.
LICENCE NAME: MRS JOANNE LEE.
LICENCE NO: BOES/165/1.
Or, those that chose to board with an unlicensed person are willing to take a higher risk.
The way I see it..
Some of us wear wellingtons boots in long grass on our dog walks. Some of us are happy to wear sandals! Be careful when making a decision on where to board your beloved companion. Have a little check list to hand or in the back of your mind. And most of all watch out for those snakes in the grass!
By that I mean people portraying pet professionalism that do not have the knowledge, experience or how to operate by the rules and regulations set by law. These people are known to offer cheap 'friendly favours' which puts all animals in their property at risk. These boarding set ups normally overboard on the numbers of dogs allowed by law.
Putting all dogs at alarming risks.
The Animal Welfare Guidance notes for licensing activities involving animals is one thick document. I have read it so much, I can confidently say that at Puggeroomie we tick every condition set and asked of us. This heavy document (like the old telephone books in phone boxes) makes all professional dog boarders run and follow protocols as one should when working with animals.
As licence holders we have daily experience of numbers, behaviours, administering medications, the neutered to un-neutered dogs, the list is endless!
Another example worth a mention is one condition of being a licence holder is knowing the correct procedures to follow for the prevention of, and control of the spread of disease. At Puggeroomie we know what to do!
Good Luck and as my Mum (Pug Nanny) says it's better to be safe than sorry!
As an animal lover, a pet professional and a licence holder I have taken on a duty to safe guard animals.
In my line of work and on occasion, I can find myself faced with a predicament. I then have to soul search to see if I am able to turn a blind eye. These situations are usually out of my control. For example I may be told or witness something that can cause an animal harm, distress or risk. In such situations I will act accordingly with the best interest of the animal.
Yes, this girl is an animal lover!
A safe doggie den for fireworks.
To build a doggie den is a fantastic way to help your dogs feel safe and secure during the firework season.
A doogie den can act as a safe place where your dogs can feel comfortable and know they won’t be disturbed. Doggie dens are really easy to make and put together with items you will already have around your home.
Our pugs have a radio close by and a ticking clock that can resemble a heartbeat.
I have just started to build my doggie den. Im not getting very far as they want to get inside it now
When you board your dog(s) with any trusted licensed pet service. The Department For Environment Food And Rural Affairs (known as DEFRA in short) nowadays star grade the licence holder. You are entitled to view their licence in their family home environment it will either be displayed in a front aspect window, entrance porch or hallway.
Let me give you an honest account of the star rating score matrix running Puggeroomie Limited.
Living at ‘The Cottage’ I wanted the best and most stars I could lay my hands on. I aimed so high and pushed myself so very hard to gain my so wanted top marks, 5 stars. I was then awarded four stars. Being classed a young business trading within a year meant I couldn’t be awarded 5 stars. Back then, I thought gaining these stars would be a little like when us hoomans book a hotel. The more stars the better the hotel right?
Well, it doesn’t quite work like that in the animal boarding world.
What was it like trading by a four star graded licence at 'The Cottage'?
Honest answer, Very challenging!
Trading our first year from 'The Cottage' Puggeroomie had a high demand of customers and as most of you know I run Puggeroomie Limited by myself. Being awarded a four star licence in short means that ‘all dogs at any given time are never to be left alone’. You as a customer will feel reassured of this but the reality of working at four stars, almost back to back dog boarding, became challenging for me running a small business working alone.
Let me give you one example: -
If I needed to pop out for a short while to buy milk or a few groceries, I was not allowed trading at four stars to leave any dogs alone. In this type of instance, I hired a professional pet sitter which I paid an hourly rate. My customers were always notified of times that I may not be present (due to basically ‘normal life’ things) prior to boarding and were invited to meet my friend another reputable pet professional who so kindly helped me on these occasions.
Let me list a few other ‘normal life’ examples for you to think about:- Going food shopping, attending doctors, dental and hairdressers appointments.
After a while, I voiced my concerns to Steve and then to my Animal Welfare Officer, I wanted a few stars of my four stars to shoot across that Puggeroomie sky into infinity and beyond.
Opening Puggeroomie Limited at Lee On The Solent, I wanted to do things differently. I questioned the government guidelines and yes had sleepless nights. I asked my new Animal Welfare Officer to basically down star grade me and my business.
So, without further ado and only living in Gosport Borough since August 1st, 2019 (being classes a new resident) I have been awarded a two-star licence.
Am I disappointment with two stars?
No, because this means I am allowed by law a window of opportunity to have a 'normal life' balance within my day while dogs are under my care. I have been advised that after being a resident of Gosport for a year or more I will then naturally progress to three stars. Three stars is the same as two but my fee is two years rather than annually.
But, this is the BIGGY.....
The SERVICE itself that you and your dog(s) experience at Puggeroomie Limited is not star rated. Whether we have five, four, three, two or one your dogs will have a beautiful holiday and be spoiled rotten in very safe and experienced hands.
So here’s to my licence and its two stars. That’s one for me and one for you!
The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go!
Approaching very soon is my favourite season, Autumn. Such a lovely time to be outside on adventures following paws. Autumn is an exciting time of year for our dogs too! there will be new smells to explore within this new delightful season.
Beautiful autumnal coloured leaves whirlwind from trees as they fall. To be wearing my much-loved wellingtons kicking up those leaves just to watch those wide open smiles, wagging tails, happy panting, boof boofings and of course, zoomies!.
So much fun! I love it!
With the new season approaching at Puggeroomie we have new activities we enjoy with all dogs that share time with us. To name a few, in October we have Halloween pumpkin picking! Costumes! and home made cooked pumpkin treats! Oh and Apple bobbing too!
Did you know that apple slices really help cleaning teeth and they help keep your dogs breath fresh! but don’t forget to remove the core and pips!.
At Puggeroomie, we also like to enjoy cosy cuddles in front of our log burners and open fires (dog safety guarding in place). Those warm fresh cosy blankets and something lovely to dribble on and chew!
With the weather cooling down, our summer outfits and cooling accessories are swapped for pug jumpers and waterproof jackets. Darker evenings mean all important discos light ID tags, fluorescent accessories. On the damper Autumnal days, a nice warm fluffy towel is waiting on return from our paw stretches. Paw massages for all those who love to relax those paws in the air!

Here at Puggeroomie we usually wake up early. The dogs will enjoy ‘The Beach Garden’ for an early morning paw stretch followed by an all important sniff and tinkle. Nothing beats seeing the pugs munching those early morning dewed cobwebs and refreshing their paws in the damp teary grass. A lovely start to our day. At all times in ‘The Beach Garden’ all dogs are supervised, and ID tagged with Puggeroomie contact details.
Puggeroomie like to wipe any sleepy dust away from our pugs eyes. I have some lovely wipes and will happily treat our 'roomies' to a little pre breakfast facial too. Please mention on booking.
After our little paw stretch in ‘The Beach Garden’ and mini facial we then meet in kitchen where breakfast is prepared. If your dog(s) are staying as our ‘roomie’ we ask owners to supply food and Puggeroomie will ensure all dogs are fed as per the instructions on your booking form. We have kitchen scales for dogs that are following a strict diet recommended by your vet. When breakfast is served, the pugs like to break out those I’m hungry dance moves. Sometimes Rosie will try a 360 back flip from off the kitchen cupboards and then pirouette like a ballerina, Kobe will moonwalk backwards and kick his back legs in the air and Poldark well he likes to sing. I have seen some phenomenal dance offs I can tell you! So, please do not worry about jumping, barking, whizzing or climbing up legs. All dancers are warmly welcomed.
A Morning Walk.
Living in beautiful Lee On The Solent there are so many lovely walks by foot. Although we have our own transport too compliant with DEFRA.
Puggeroomie will tailor walks to suite your needs and wants. Poldark loves to tap dancing in the mud. Kobe likes open fields to zoomies in. Rosie ‘Ms Water Babe’ loves to doggie dip. Every dog is different and we take that into account here at Puggeroomie. We can enjoy short walks together or longer walks. Either way Puggeroomie will carry all essentials in our bag. From water, treats, poop bags, pop up water bowls, a first aid kit and all sorts.
Dependant on the seasons, the set up can change here at Puggeroomie.
During the day all dogs have access to our home and our own private ‘Beach Garden’ a place where all dogs can either play or relax.
‘The Beach Garden’ is a fully safe and secured area that is always locked. Puggeroomie even have CCTV. To name a few of our outside toys. We have a Wendy house, a red slide, a ball pool, a paddling pool, a play car, tunnels and a selection of soft toys. The list is endless!
We have bottomless fresh water throughout the day and several bowls are dotted around our home. We also have a doggie fridge and freezer for ice cream, treats and frozen raw meat food.
For sofa surfers we have comfy sofas inside our home with cushions and of course fresh blankets.
In the hot summer months, we have a ‘Keep Cool Corner’ cooling mats and massive umbrellas for shade. Also in the summer months the kitchen door is always open, so all dogs can run around our home into the fully enclosed ‘Beach Garden’.
In the winter months ‘The Beach Garden’ is packed away. I have been known to bring tents and slides into the front room/kitchen family room of our home with other interactive toys!
We also have fun in ‘The Beach Garden’ throughout the day. Dogs are always supervised here.
Yes, you’ve guessed more kitchen dancing and singing until dogs are given their food. We feed all dogs separately. If you would like your dog to be fed not separately then we ask for written consent. Not all dogs eat lunchtime but we will follow as per your instructions on your booking form.
In the afternoon
Some play, some cuddle, some snore. All dogs can do what ever takes their fancy.
Yes, you’ve guessed again more kitchen dancing and singing until they are given their food. We have our last of the day paw stretch and night time tinkles. We then settle down for our movie and they can stay up late, on occasions for our popular pajama party service.
Sofa surfing, secret snacks, movies, fresh blankets, underfloor heating in the colder months, cooling beds in the hotter months. Cushion swapping, soft toys, cuddles from myself and Steve, Badger watching for all wildlife lovers and sometimes all dogs will all sing and dance to horses on the TV.
I hope you have found this useful. If you need to know anything more contact Joe Lee on 07494573230 www.puggeroomie.com email@example.com

Puggeroomie ‘by the sea’.
Within every season of the year there is always something to see and do along the beautiful south coast at Lee-on-Solent. The beach itself is a great place to adventure. It truly is a wonderful stretch of water between the south coast and the Isle of Wight.
This attractive shingle beach lies between Portsmouth and Southampton. From the beach my three adorable squashed faced monsters like to boof boof at the many cargo ships and cruise liners that pass through the waters. We also enjoy our ice creams along the promenade. Nothing beats the feeling of a little invigorating doggie dip followed by fun interactive games like digging the sand.
On fine sunny days you can see Queen Victoria's Osborne House from the beach. And on the not so fine days locals know Gosport has rain heading its way.
Behind the beach are large grassy areas suitable for doggie games, doggie relaxation and of course doggie picnics. A paved walkway runs alongside the entire length of the beach leading to the neighbouring beach ‘Stokes Bay’. Stokes Bay has some beautiful woodland parks where we enjoy shady hang outs under mature trees. When the tide is out, rockpools are exposed and all the teeny tiny crabs and fish can be seen while searching amongst the rocks looking for pirate treasure of course!
A stone throw away lies Alver Valley Country park. Alver Valley love all dogs visiting. They have a range of circular routes and a mix of terrain with fantastic views over the Solent!
There is something for every dog with extensive areas to explore. Dogs can run and adventure off-lead over large safe parts of the Country Park. There are also several doggie dips for all dogs to enjoy a paddle.
