we are now presenting our work PUBLIC facing after stumbling on a squeaky and finding my mojo and confidence!
Recently, I lost direction.
I tried not to be so hard on myself and embraced feeling a little lost. When Steve was discharged from hospital after two major life changing operations his care fell on me. Anyone that knows me, knows I am not a strong stomached person. In this time, I closed Puggeroomie to enable Steve the recovery time he needed. There was no time scale for his recovery and what we have been through doesn’t happen every day. What happened to Steve is so very rare!
Unfortunately, we have had a few unexpected setbacks coupled with a few scary moments, but we are constantly pulling together and taking everything in our stride. I have found while talking to people who have been through a traumatic life experience that they fully understand where Steve and I have been since October last year. When you have been there, you realise how precious and fragile life can be. Those that haven’t experienced anything like this are quick to judge. Without a doubt one day those quick to judge will experience ‘the cycle of life’ that’s where I am currently at. I am now 46 years of age and I have a different take on my life now.
If it feels good just do it and make sure you kiss and hold hands often!
So, for those of you that do not know me I am Joe Lee and I solely run Puggerooomie. My husband Steve helps me now and then when away from the office. When Steve helps our stats go up. I do still wish I had that 2018 pug boot camp video; it was just hilarious! but sadly everything was deleted in challenging times when undoubtably the right decision was to close, apologise and fully refund all bookings affected.
Over the years of trading, I have found that our client’s number one priority is knowing that their dog(s) are safe, happy, healthy and being well looked after. Quite right too! Our squashed face monsters are our precious beloved companions after all! No one really cares about my waffle. I know that, but one thing to know about me is I love to creative write, and I love to waffle! Apologise in advance but you can’t change me! I am like marmite, you either like me or dislike me.
So here are my recent thoughts...
After everything we have gone through, I read some quite upsetting comments about both myself and Steve on social media. I also received a few upsetting emails coupled with reading screen shots from my close friends who care about us both and our reputation. We have also been made a joke from another pet professional whom we had highly recommended.
With negative and cruel comments plastered publicly, of course this affected me and when it affects me, it affects us or visa versa.
I felt I could no longer post onto social media; for me it was no longer a happy place. Not good when you are trying to build your business back up. To move forward I then created a private group, a safe haven for me to be ‘myself’ away from a public facing audience. In doing this, I then encountered another hurdle. Admin from another pug group didn’t like that I created a pug group. So not be long, I then changed my group to booked clients only to be used as a viewing platform for all owners to see their dogs while on staycation. Not before long many other non-booked potential customers asked to join and denying entry seemed to be like closing our front door on them. It seemed super unfriendly.
I started to then doubt myself and question everything, until someone close to me sent me a private message with a picture. (Pictured below).
As from Sunday 31st we are going PUBLIC again on Puggeroomie page.
You see folks, I love what I do, and the only way forward for me is
‘If something it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it’
I have felt bullied/trolled on social media but as from Sunday I am going public and all haters or people who do not understand reasonings behind our closure can kiss ……….. and all pugs are showing their cute curlys whirlys!
I am feeling very positive!!!!
Joe Lee is feeling blessed. Shared with Public
So lovely to see my business Puggeroomie picking back up again after all that has happened to Steve and myself. I have some lovely dogs due for their summer and Christmas staycations.
With all fans a blowing our Poldark & Demelza recreate 'I'm flying' an all time famous scene from the 1997 movie Titanic.
I think Poldark's performance playing Rose De Bukater is hilarious!
Together we are Puggeroomie.
About - Joe Lee
BIO: A vibrant person who likes to add a little colour into our world!
My name is Joe Lee and I am the proud owner and Managing Director of Puggeroomie.
Often people will sing Dolly Parton's Jolene song on hearing my name! In response I always laugh like it's the first time!
My business name and idea originated from my love of pugs, all creatures great and small, plus our natural environment.
Puggeroomie® - A pet service that enables your pugs to be our 'roomie' as well as other small breeds of dog.
I know! what a quirky, unique selling point I thought up while floating around in a friends hot tub drinking some celebratory bubbly!
Little did I ever imagine, my business idea would lead me along a fabulous path. Along this path, I have met so many wonderful people and shared such good times while caring for their beloved companions.
I take pleasure in being outdoors. You will often find me on various local adventures following paws. As well as my passion for dog walking, in my spare time I appreciate photography, creative writing and art. I enjoy to paint. I have recently worked on a few commissions. I have also had some of my photography published in the local newspapers.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
On becoming a pet professional I have gained much experience and knowledge over many years. I began my career within the pet industry working as a self employed dog walker and pet sitter. Back then, my business name was known as 'ifollowpaws' which naturally over time evolved into Puggeroomie.
Puggeroomie was established on Saint Valentines Day in 2018 and trademarked.
I have a vast knowledge of brachycephalic breeds and consider this to be my specialist area within the pet industry. I also work closely along side animal welfare sectors and various charities.
Prior to your dogs staycation, if you would like to see my certificates and relevant documentation please ask and this can be arranged for you.
I am career driven. I work extremely hard to accomplish a flawless much loved service licensed at five stars higher standard through Gosport Borough Council.
I feel very fortunate residing 'by the sea' in the beautiful coastal village, Lee on the Solent in Hampshire. Our family home is located a stone throw away from the beach and is within close walking distance to Alver Valley Country Park and Stokes Bay.
I am happily married to my husband Steve also known as 'Mr Puggeroomie'. I am also a happy Pugmom to my three pugs Kobe, Rosie and Captain Poldark plus our Demelza who is a pugalier.
This photo was taken on our wedding anniversary.
If you fancy meeting us both, our puggies and seeing Puggeroomie behind the scenes we'd love to hear from you!

If I had a penny for everytime a hooman compared me to them wearing a fur coat walking bare foot in this weather I'd be a very rich pug.
I'd love to say to a hooman try wearing a soaking wet cooling vest against your tufty pee pee parts and then smile for the camera to advertise the cool in Puggeroomie.
It's not the same as the Aiden Turner's (the real Poldark) wet shots Pugmom take it off me for fluff sake!
