Alver Valley Country park is a beautiful place to walk ‘off lead’ with your dog.
I normally park my van in what they call ‘The East Car Park’ at a turning off Grange Road in Gosport. There is also ‘The West Car Park’ at a turning off Cherque Way in Lee On The Solent.
The car park costs eighty pence to park for an hour. I normally put in enough time for two hours as Kobe does like a good slow wander, sniff and tinkle.
Alver offers a combination of scenic meadows, beautiful woodlands and riverside boardwalks. For this walk I would recommend a good pair of wellingtons in the winter months because sometimes ‘Apple Dumpling Bridge’ can overflow and the terrain on the marked out pathways can get a little muddy.
There are dog poop bins on entry and exit to the park but I find it best taking a bag of all things you may need. That way you and your dog can both relax and enjoy a good adventure.
Worth noting Gosport Borough Council only allow four dogs to be walked by one person here. Alver is a four dog limit area.
Here are the addresses for both car parks for your sat nav.

I hope you enjoy Alver like we do!
